I had the new version of the db.php. This time, before I attempted the upgrade on one of my hives, I disabled every plugin except wp-hive. The upgrade went fine and I could reactivate my plugins.

Hive does NOT play well with SEO plugins.

Thank you for the update. I've come to rely on this plugin.

I looked at this again because I didn't like the answer. I decided that I would start with one of the hives I had not upgraded and I replaced the old wp-hive plugin with the new. Then I did the WordPress upgrade and... it worked!

It just didn't work when I upgraded wp-hive after the WordPress upgrade.

I know it's too much to keep up and I wish I could code, because I rely on this plug-in.

I just went through this also. I attempted to roll back to an earlier version but that failed miserably. Fortunately I was able (after several hours of freaking out) to start from scratch, rebuild my sites w/ wp-hive and import the old databases. Looks like I haven't lost anything!

I really hope somebody picks up development on WP-Hive. I love this plugin! WordPress MU doesn't seem as simple or usable. I'm going to look into that soon. Right now I'm using WP 3.0 and my plan for the immediate future is DON'T UPGRADE. I don't like that plan, but that's all I can do. :(

Same experience here. Except, my issue was with Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_cache_get() in /home/content/*********************/wp-includes/functions.php on line 336

Apparently wp-hive is using (or at least causing execution of) WP functions that have been deprecated. Rolling back to 3.0.5 works fine, but it may mean staying at that release indefinitely.

So, anyone know yet what the future of wp-hive is? Or, has anyone figured out a nice clean way to migrate to Wordpress multi-site??

I too got an error when updating WP. Fortunately, I had a copy of the previous version. I ended up having to roll back to WP 3.0.5. It would appear that WP 3.1 and WP-Hive don't play well together.

If you don't have a copy of WP 3.0.5, you can get it from wp.org: http://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/

Good luck! I know that my stomach about hit the floor when I wiped out my whole hive. But, rolling back works. Good news is it didn't mess with the database.

I just wrote over every file with the old one except for the wpconfig file and my wp-content file.

Hi John,

Any chance of getting a more detailed checklist of steps to take when migrating toward Wordpress Multi-User before you depart? The codex on WP's site is somewhat lacking in this regard, and am worried about causing massive issues when moving my hive. Have really appreciated your work, but totally understand your motivations for moving on.

Thanks,
Jeff

I turned off single sign on, installed the theme I wanted to use, and started creating pages. Unfortunately, the pages don't exist. Sigh.

I'm hoping you're entertained by my experiences.

I have no access to anything except my own profile and the dashboard on the second site. I can't create posts, change the theme, or install plugins unless I turn off single sign on. Will have to see what happens.

I'm installing a sub directory blog on my website. The settings are:

domain: foo.com
sub directory: /foosub
table prefix: foo_

The first time I clicked install, it downloaded Magento to my computer. I have NO clue what that was about, so after trying again with the same result, changed the name of the directory and tried again. Now I get the error message that install.php has a redirect loop (using Firefox and Chrome; IE just kept trying) that will not resolve. I tried deleting cookies, etc., but nothing works.

If it matters, I have single sign on in the add on folder. I deleted it and retried, but that made no difference.

Any suggestions for me?

I'm in need of urgent help. I just added a site to my hive, and it broke the permalinks for all of my hive sites. Usually when this occurs I can just go and resave the permalink settings (/%category%/%postname%/) and it will work again, but this time that's not working.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any fixes? Some critical sites are not working right now because of this....

I'm trying to find the wp-links-opml.php for each subdomain blog I've created on my site using the wp-hive plugin. I can only find the one for the main site on the root directory. I need to find them so I can import links to another wordpress blog without manually inputting the data.

I posted this elsewhere, but I guess you can ignore that thread. I didn't see this thread.

I was having the same issue as jamesquin. Sites were reverting to blank htaccess rules even when I did nothing to them (not even a visit - they are autoblogs). Modifying the htaccess permissions (to 555) does seem to protect the htaccess when I've tried that approach.

This was not happening with older versions of wp-hive and prior to WP 3. Could it have something to do with the new multi-site characteristics of WP 3?

It is not good to have a dozen sites - especially autoblog sites - suddenly stop working.

I still do not understand why/how wp-hive should, in any fashion, mess with the htaccess file. Here's the deal:

In a "normal" WP install if I update the permalinks, WP does its thing and properly updates the htaccess file.

In a wp-hive insstall, updating permalinks clears the WP htaccess section in the htaccess file (unless the htaccess file is "protected"). I even had it clear the htaccess file in one wp-hive install even though I haven't updated any permalinks.

This did not happen in the older versions of wp-hive or before WP 3.0. And, it does not happen in a "normal" install.

I believe this is a bug.

Still unable to resolve this. I confirm all settings are the same on each blog, htacces is set to read only and I've even disabled virtually all the plugins. It is VERY annoying and disrupting to my business. I'm looking to see if there are other viable alternatives to WPHive that will do what I want but save having this probem - any suggestions anyone?
