Hi John

I want to support WP Hive project and spread the word. Last weekend I started testing wp-hive.0.5.3 with WordPress Version 2.9.1. Used DreamHost One-Click Installs, followed your Installation Instructions, but unfortunately can NOT install new domain and/or sub-domain blogs. Could you please let me know if I missed something?

Thank you

I'm installing a sub directory blog on my website. The settings are:

domain: foo.com
sub directory: /foosub
table prefix: foo_

The first time I clicked install, it downloaded Magento to my computer. I have NO clue what that was about, so after trying again with the same result, changed the name of the directory and tried again. Now I get the error message that install.php has a redirect loop (using Firefox and Chrome; IE just kept trying) that will not resolve. I tried deleting cookies, etc., but nothing works.

If it matters, I have single sign on in the add on folder. I deleted it and retried, but that made no difference.

Any suggestions for me?

Hello,
I've been trying for a while now, but I can't get it to work. This is what I've done.

I moved my WP-install (3.03) to the root and it works fine. I already use pretty-links, so I just auto-installed the plugin.
Next step: add site (domain: 'domain.com', and sub-directory: '/subdir')-> also seem to work.
But when I press install site, it gives me the message forbidden 403.

So I made first a directory with name: 'subdir' and tried again to install. Again forbidden 403.
Next I put the files for a new WP-install in that directory and now WP gives a message that there is already a WP installed.

Do I have to change some settings somewhere or do I miss a step?

I couldn't find the same problem anywhere on this forum.. (at least not with a proper solution).

thank you very much!

I am attempting to integrate WP-Hive into an existing WordPress install. WP is installed in the root directory, and I am able to install and activate the plugin. The admin interface works fine as long as I don't leave it, but if I attempt to log in after leaving the dashboard, I receive the Unknown Host error.

This particular WP install shares a single database with a number of other installs, but the table prefixes are all unique. I am unable to add additional installs through Hive, as I receive the following error in Firefox:
"The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

* This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies."

Cookies are fully enabled, my wp-content folder is CHMOD 777, I've updated and refreshed my .htaccess file multiple times and I'm at a loss.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi! I am trying to install a 2nd blog on my website. I already have a primary WP blog at http://thenoblepirates.com. I followed all the steps -- pretty permalinks, read-only access to .htaccess, etc. I upgraded to WpHive Pro as well. However, when I try to install the second blog, I get a 404 error.

Please help!

I have 2 domains with their own wordpress installs (they're existing blogs, separate databases, etc. I'm using Arvixe hosting if it helps). I'm using domain1.com as my hive starting point.
Hive is installed. Site still works. Added site (domain2.com -> domain2.com / d2_). Great. Clicked "install site" Not great - sent me to domain2.com's site instead of installing.

This is my 4th attempt (all others failing and actually managed to wipe out my site once). I think I need to change my addondomain (domain2.com) to be in public_html/ instead of in its own folder (WP is installed in public_html/). I did that before and changed the prefixes in my existing database to d2_ ... and kept getting a blank page.

I could get one blog or the other (but not both) to work.

I LOVE this idea and I've paid the $50 for the Pro subscriptions, but I can't figure out how to make it work... What am I doing wrong? Or maybe better yet... What should I do (step by step)? In noob-speak, please. :)

Thanks!

Hi! Seems like a great plugin and I really want to get it working ASAP. here are the basics:

I have WordPress installed in my root site, http://www.site.com
I setup WP-Hive as a plugin and added a new blog as a sub-directory, http://www.site.com/subblog

But now I have no idea how to access/login my subblog versus my main blog and vice versa??

Hi!

I've installed wordpress in a subdirectory on my website (website.com/wordpress), but the blog address is my website root(website.com).
I want to install another blog in another subdirectory (website.com/blog).

I tried to do it, but when I clicked "install site" I got redirected to website.com/wp-admin/install.php , but since the wordpress is in a subdirectory i get a page not found-message. (same thing happens if I type in website.com/blog)

How is this possible?

I've successfully installed WP Hive, but when I attempt to add a new site, nothing much happens. The site gets added within the admin panel, but nothing occurs on my server and so, if I try to view the site, I just get a 404 page telling me that nothing is there.

I'm wondering if this is an issue because my blog is accessed at subdomain.mydomain.com and I'm trying to create subdomain.mydomain/blog, but the WP install and all files associated with it are located on in a completely different directory structure that redirects to subdomain.mydomain.com. Could this be the issue? If not, I'm uncertain of what I need to do to get WP Hive to work.

I install Hive as prescribed by documentation. On a subdirectory install all goes well until the blog is created. I visit the new site and it is vanilla generic.(No theme no plugins) When I go to do a subdomain install I get hung up after saving changes. I can't get an install. I am pretty sure I pointed the subdomain correctly. Can you help? Any clue? Help!

This afternoon I got wp-hive working with a main blog and one new blog. I was poking around the database and noticed a couple of things:

1) The wphive tables don't use the prefix I have setup for my primary WP installation. I think this needs to be fixed and is trivial to do so.

2) The second blog I created which is managed by wp-hive has a 3 letter prefix based on the domain name - why not use the entire subdomain prefix? For the project I am thinking of using hive on, there will be 6-8 subdoamins which are all very similar and in each case, the first 3 letters are replicated across at least one other subdoamin.

3) Like the wphive tables, the tables for the second blog do not make use of the database prefix either.

Looking at the code, the wp-hive tables are hard coded which would prevent setting up more than one installation in a single database.

I like the potential of this, but I'd like to see a couple things like this fixed before I commit it to a real project.

I am a big dummy, was distracted and I think I ran the install script on the original WP blog I have had running for a few months now. So when I activate the plugin my original becomes the new. If the hive files are where they are supposed to be I only see the new install. Doesn't matter if the plugin is active or inactive. If I delete the files I get my original install back. Is there a way to continue with the install the right way?
