I'm installing a sub directory blog on my website. The settings are:

domain: foo.com
sub directory: /foosub
table prefix: foo_

The first time I clicked install, it downloaded Magento to my computer. I have NO clue what that was about, so after trying again with the same result, changed the name of the directory and tried again. Now I get the error message that install.php has a redirect loop (using Firefox and Chrome; IE just kept trying) that will not resolve. I tried deleting cookies, etc., but nothing works.

If it matters, I have single sign on in the add on folder. I deleted it and retried, but that made no difference.

Any suggestions for me?

I have read thru everything I can, but still unsure how to handle subdirectory installation. I have existing site named http://www.example.com. My current blog is http://www.example.com/blog. I want to add additional blogs. I understand I have to move my Wordpress files to http://www.example.com, but not sure how to deal w/ index.php file from Wordpress when I move files. I obviously don't want to overwrite my root index.php. I also tried installing the plugin before moving the files, and saw that it removed the lines below from the .htaccess file in /blog subdirectory:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /blog/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L]
</IfModule>

This gave me 404 errors throughout my blog.

When I move the Wordpress files to root, do I need to make changes to .htaccess? I have an .htaccess file in the root director and another in the /blog subdirectory. Do I still keep one in the /blog directory? Do I keep any files in the /blog subdirectory. If I have to make changes to either .htaccess file, what changes?

Sorry, for newbie ?s, but any advice greatly appreciated.

I use Network Solutions for my hosting and they automatically dump all files into a subdirectory of the root called /htdocs. I added my blog to my website - didn't want it to replace existing content so WP and all its stuff went into /htdocs/woodshed. If I purchase the Pro version of Hive will it be compatible with this set-up? I intend to add a second blog which will also have to be a subdirectory ie: /htdocs/blog2.

My current system for 2/3 domains to share one installation works great - I just use the same prefix for the new domains as the existing domain and all redirects work fine.

I know this could cause duplicate content issues w/ goog but it doesn't really matter all that much, its a corporate site w/ no ads.

The issue is that I need to redirect a subdirectory to the main directory, since the domain is already 'parked' on the base, the only thing I could think of was to add a new site with the subdirectory and the same prefix, this doesn't work at all.

Is there any other method to do this?

Also, I paid for the pro version, was hoping for the new code and upgrade instructions but haven't received them yet, have sent you an email about this too.

Thanks for a great plugin, cheers!

Hi! Seems like a great plugin and I really want to get it working ASAP. here are the basics:

I have WordPress installed in my root site, http://www.site.com
I setup WP-Hive as a plugin and added a new blog as a sub-directory, http://www.site.com/subblog

But now I have no idea how to access/login my subblog versus my main blog and vice versa??

Hello,
WP Hive seems to be just what I'm looking for, but please help me understand something. My website will have the main home page http://www.example.com, and the main blog will be installed at root level. The rest of the many blogs will be simply installed in subdirectories, such as example.com/blog1, example.com/blog2, example.com/blog3. Depending on how well this website concept goes, this might go up to example.com/blog500, or maybe more!

I don't want to set up a subdomain with GoDaddy for each of these subdiroctories. It is enough that I can link to them as http://www.example.com/blog1/ (and not as blog1.example.com).

I have installed WP, than installed WP Hive, then went to WP Hive > Add New. On that page I did it this way:

Domain name: example.com
Sub Directory: /test1

Prefix: test1_

Then it asks me to install it, and I do so. Then I log into the new site.

I've made 4 test blogs this way.

Question 1: How do I get to the Dashboard of each created blog?

Question 2: Is it perfectly OK to make extra blogs in this way?

Thanks!

I have my original wordpress install at http://www.mysite.com and my wp-hive installed at http://www.mysite.com/wphive. I seem to have some issues, some minor (logs me out, sometimes have trouble logging in) some a little more major (sometimes can't log in, can't leave comments on wphive site). Just wondering, was this meant to be in a subdirectory or was it meant only for its own domain or for its subdomain? I'm just now getting visitors to the wphive site and would rather delete the wp-hive and start fresh with a new wordpress install if the plugin wasn't built for what I'm doing. Don't get me wrong.. I'm not complaining. This is a great plugin and I can see how it woudl be perfect for some. But right now, the only benefit for me is I don't have to update 2 installs.. but that hassle doesn't outweigh the issues for me. Thanks

Hi!

I've installed wordpress in a subdirectory on my website (website.com/wordpress), but the blog address is my website root(website.com).
I want to install another blog in another subdirectory (website.com/blog).

I tried to do it, but when I clicked "install site" I got redirected to website.com/wp-admin/install.php , but since the wordpress is in a subdirectory i get a page not found-message. (same thing happens if I type in website.com/blog)

How is this possible?

It seems there is a fairly common problem with the subdirectory installs - particularly with logging into the WP Admin.

I am working on a resolution, and I will release it as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if possible, please limit support questions to issues that do not involve sites set up as subdirectories.

Thanks very much!

I install Hive as prescribed by documentation. On a subdirectory install all goes well until the blog is created. I visit the new site and it is vanilla generic.(No theme no plugins) When I go to do a subdomain install I get hung up after saving changes. I can't get an install. I am pretty sure I pointed the subdomain correctly. Can you help? Any clue? Help!
