Yes, what you are talking about is possible and not too difficult. This post talks about separating a single site from the Hive.

ok, very good. thanks for clarifying that.

a couple additional questions, if you don't mind: if you set up a multisite DB, is it possible to separate out an individual site to create a standalone DB for one or more of the sites? if so, how hard is that to do?

for instance, say if i wanted to migrate the site to another platform (e.g., Drupal) or if i wanted to sell one site, but not the others?

if that isn't possible, is there a way to set up multiple DBs using the same WP code base?

any thoughts would be appreciated. thank you for your time.

There is one database that includes all sites in the hive.

Each site in the Hive has its own set of tables within the single database.

I hope that clears things up. :)

i am a little unclear whether this plug-in generates 1 DB total or 1 DB per site.

this post suggests 1 total: http://wp-hive.com/forums/topic.php?id=33

but then there are more recent posts which reference multiple DBs, but no mention is made that that is not supported. e.g., http://wp-hive.com/forums/topic.php?id=189 http://wp-hive.com/forums/topic.php?id=102

can you pls clarify? thank you.
